Welcome to Elite Style All-stars for the 2011-2012 Season

BACKGROUND

Elite Style All Stars is a 501 C-3 non-profit athletic association, established for the advancement of competition cheerleading dancing.  A corporate charter and this manual governs team operations.  Our Bylaws were established by the Board of Directors comprised of 2 Directors, Administrator, Treasurers, Head Coaches, and other officers who plan, direct and control all activities relating to the teams.  A Booster Club, led by a President, organizes fundraising, promotional and spirit activities.  Teams cover their expenses including its portion of administrative expenses, competition fees and miscellaneous expenses such as transportation and spirit activities.

TEAM PHILOSOPHY

The Elite Style experience is more than physical training and competitions.  Our goal at Elite Style is to develop each individuals athletic potential in a safe and enjoyable atmosphere, emphasizing important life skills such as sportsmanship, team unity, self-confidence and inner strength.

BUILDING CHARACTER BEFORE STUNTS!

There is no"I" in TEAM.  The administrative staff, coaches, parents and athletes must place the good of the whole before the self-interest of individuals.  Effective communication and compromise are the hallmarks of a successful program.

COMMITMENT

The decision to enter competition cheerleading or dance is a important and exciting step in the life of your child.  When making team selection decisions, the family's support of the athlete is also evaluated.  A supportive parent is one who is financial responsible and transports their athlete in a timely manner to all practices and events.  Supportive parents communicate pro-actively with coaches and the administrative staff, and are available to provide volunteer hours to the Booster Club for fundraising, promotional and team spirit activities.  In addition, we highly suggest the following
  • Emphasize to your child that doing his/her best is more important than winning.
  • Cheer politely at competitions rather than criticize opponents.
  • Understand that coaches must consider the whole team when making decisions.
  • Focus more on ;your child's successes than his/her mistakes.
  • Attend as many competitive events as possible.
  • Help your child to stay focused on his/her development and not make comparisons to teammates.
SKILLS PROGRESSION AND TRAINING

Cheerleading and dance skills are learned in progression.  Basic skills must be mastered before progressing to more difficult skills.  Our athletes are given every opportunity to train with the guidance of professional certified coaches in order to progress to their desired level.  Please keep in mind that athletes entering our program have a wide range of background skills and knowledge, which may affect progression speed.  The commitment to the continued mastery of new skills is important at every level in our program, from the youngest beginner to the elite gymnast.  Each athlete will be provided with individual goals to accomplish throughout the season.  To truly succeed in competition cheer and dance, athletes must stretch and condition at home as well.  Our coaching staff offers private tumbling and cheer lessons to provide additional training for athletes who are willing to work hard to progress more rapidly to the next level.  They are also available to help anyone struggling with a competition routine or who may need individual attention to master a new skill.  It is our policy to advise parents if their child is struggling and private training will be strongly encouraged.
